NAC is the 2 amino acid precursors to glutathione. Glutathione is the front-line defense in the brain to address the neuro-inflammatory increase in oxidative stress caused by free radicals. With any kind of trauma (head or body) inflammatory cytokines are produced (IL1, IL1b, IL6, TNFa) that cause an increase in Free Radicals. This causes changes in the chemistry of the brain which leads to cognitive and emotional conditions.
